Would you like to leave your (metaphorical) mark on the Buffalo Bill Center of the West’s collections? Yes, we discourage drawing on the walls, but what about leaving your very own story for future generations to learn from?
On April 11, join Exclusive Tours for this VIP Tours & Toddies event that caps off National Library Week with a deep dive into the stacks of our McCracken Research Library (MRL). The McCracken holds 36,000 books, more than 600 numbered manuscript collections, more than one million photographic images, and countless stories.
Susan Fletcher, Housel Director of the MRL, and Cassandra Day, Lead Archivist, bring guests behind the scenes to showcase treasures from the vaults. They share sneak peeks into upcoming projects like their West Reborn: Fashion in the West exhibition coming in Fall 2025. They showcase never-displayed photographs of famous figures like George Armstrong Custer and Annie Oakley.
Plus, guests will have the chance to participate in a mini-oral history activity during the program. We’re dusting off our cameras and getting out the recorder to interview YOU. Your stories, perspectives, and thoughts can join those of Buffalo Bill, John Browning, and other famed figures whose words and works the McCracken preserves.
After the tour, the MRL staff brings the group back to the Exclusive Tours Depot for custom charcuterie, adult drinks, and themed treats. Guests can also enjoy our sweet “Bookish Baclava” and our special cocktail “The Historical Proof” as they socialize with Center staff. Don’t miss this exciting and exclusive evening!
Spots are limited! Advanced registration is required. This experience is $60 per person, and just $55 per person for the Buffalo Bill Center of the West members.
