Two Rivers: Yellowstone Rivers (691 miles long) empties into the Atlantic Ocean and the Snake River (1,040 miles long) empties into the pacific ocean. The Yellowstone River is the longest undammed river in the lower 48 states. Yellowstone contains some of the most significant, near pristine aquatic ecosystems found in the US. Yellowstone has an estimated 10,000 thermal features, 465 of which are active during an average year. The active geysers include Old Faithful, Castle Geyer, Lion Geyser, Beehive Geyser. Yellowstone is the only place in the United States

Yellowstone is the only place in the United States where Bison have lived continuously since prehistoric times. Yellowstone bison are exceptional because they comprise the nation’s largest bison population on public land and are among the few bison breads that have not been hybridized though interbreeding with cattle. Currently there are 4,829 (counted in August 2019). There are two primary herds: Northern (3,667) and central (1,162). By 1902 the Yellowstone heard was hunted down to two dozen animals. The best place to see are Hayden & Lamar Valleys. Make sure you don’t approach the Bison as they are wild animals, especially in the spring around their young. #VisitPowell #PowellWy
