Name: A Dream in Doubt
Date: April 2, 2009
Time: 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM MDT
Event Description:
Preetmohan Singh comes to Powell from Washington D.C., for a viewing and discussion of the film, A Dream in Doubt, which he co-produced. It was first shown on PBS' Independent Lens series in 2007. This important film features Rana Sodhi, an Indian immigrant whose life was forever altered in October of 2001 when his brother, who as a Sikh man wore a turban and a beard, was murdered in Phoenix, Arizona. This was America's first post-9/11 revenge killing. Although there are other films about national security and civil liberties, A Dream in Doubt is the first to explore hate crimes on a familial level. This program is brought to you through the efforts of the NWC Multicultural Events Committee and its supporters.
