Event Description:
Join us in celebrating the 75th birthday of famed chimpanzee researcher, Dr. Jane Goodall, in this special program. Northwest College's anthropologist, Greg Smith, will discuss Goodall's background and share the fascinating scientific discoveries Goodall has made since she first started observing a group of wild chimpanzees in Tanzania, Africa in 1960.
During the one-hour award-winning documentary film, Jane Goodall's Wild Chimpanzees (2002), you will learn about chimpanzee behavior from Frodo, Fifi, Titan and the other chimpanzees Goodall studied. In a post-film discussion, find out what has happened to the chimps featured in the film since the film was made.
All ages are welcome to attend. Homeschooled students will not want to miss this!
