Powell Centennial's BIG EVENT
Relay rides, pageantry, memorabilia, food and music to celebrate Powell's 100 YEARS
Festivities in Powell begin at 2:30 pm
Relay riders deliver the proclamation from Cody to Powell starting with the River Runner's raft, then delivering to a horseback rider, a Pony express group of 4 H'rs will gallop along 14-A, passing the mail and proclamation on to a miniature buggy and pony in Ralston. There a hors-drawn sheep wagon loaded with children will make the next dast to Road 11. The last stretch to Powell will be aboard a 1969 David Brown tractor. The realy will also include a horse-drawn buggy that will escort a procession of dignitaries in vintage automobiles.
Following the ceremony the "Buffalo Bill's Cowbowy Band" will entertain in Downtown Powell on Bent street with musice from the 1900's. The Powell Meal is from 3:00 to 5:00 pm, serving Centennial Dogs, Powell Pinto's and cole slaw.
The beard judging contest will begin at 4:00 pm ~ The PRIZE a free shave!!
Begining at 7:00 pm Tim Schoessler, NWC instructor will perform a piano concert.
Along with all these great festivities there will be booths featuring Centennial memorabilia for sale, along with raffle tickets for the queen size Centennial Quilt.
