Join Bob Richard at the Buffalo Bill Center of the West for his next talk in the “Local Lore with Bob Richard” series.
For this illustrated presentation, Bob presents A Winter Expedition through Yellowstone. He recounts the story of and shares photographs from a winter trip in the park in 1955, when Bob was a senior in high school. Organized by Bob’s father, Jack Richard, the weeklong excursion undertaken with ski planes also included the editor of the Cody Enterprise, Larry Morrison, and three Wyoming Game & Fish Department wardens. Starting from Jackson, the group toured Yellowstone’s south loop—from the south entrance to Old Faithful (where they met District Ranger Bob Murphy), on to Madison Junction, Norris, and then over to the Canyon and Lake areas, and then back out the south entrance.
With a wealth of knowledge about the Cody and Yellowstone National Park areas, Bob has a lifetime of stories to share with future generations. These talks are hosted by our McCracken Research Library.
