Have you ever been curious about how Heart Mountain farmers get their irrigation water? Homesteader Museum is hosting an enlightening bus tour of the Heart Mountain Canal, Saturday, June 7. Guided by local historian and farmer Beryl Churchill and Dan Laursen, Heart Mountain Irrigation expert, the tour follows the engineering marvel from the
Shoshone Canyon to various spots north and northeast of Cody. This is an exciting opportunity to learn more about the historic Shoshone Irrigation Project design still being used today by our local farmers and ranchers.
The bus will depart the Homesteader Museum at 9:00 a.m. and the tour will last approximately 5 hours. Facilities are available on the bus; water and snacks will also be provided. There will be a Cody pickup at 9:40am. Contact the Homesteader Museum 307.754.9481 for more information and to reserve your tickets. Tickets are $20 and participants will need to bring a sack lunch. The bus is not handicapped accessible.
