Name: Northwest Ghana: Medical and Other Adventures
Date: May 19, 2011
Time: 7:00 PM - 8:00 PM MDT
Event Description:

Join Nick Morris, MD, for a slide show and presentation on his recent one month humanitarian medical mission to Saboba, Ghana, in which Dr. Morris and 2 medical students treated patients with unusual and often preventable diseases. During their time there, they were also able to immerse themselves in the local culture.

Lack of clean water and adequate immunizations continue to present a problem for the people of Ghana, and the state of medical care in the region is problematic as well. After the 1-hour presentation, there will be a 20 minute question and answer session that will be open to the public.

Nick Morris, MD, is a general surgeon from Powell and part of the teaching faculty at the University of Washington School of Medicine. He has travelled abroad on medical missions with Project Hope to Indonesia, East Timor, Belize, Guatemala and Panama. He is also a founder of the Heart Mountain Volunteer Medical Clinic.
