Name: Paleontological Gold Rush & Dinosaurs of Wyoming
Date: December 6, 2011
Time: 7:00 PM - 8:30 PM MST
Event Description:
Wyoming Dinosaur Center

Millions of years ago, many species of dinosaurs lived, ate, slept and died in what is now known as the Cowboy State. Since then, man developed a fascination and science of hunting and studying their fossil remains. Take an historical journey with Greg Willson, excavation manager of the Wyoming Dinosaur Center in Thermopolis, as he discusses the different phases of the development of paleontology in Wyoming (including the famous “Bone Wars” phase), institutional paleontology and the current paleontological climate.

Learn of the major dinosaur-rich geological formations in the state and of the different dinosaurs and animals that are found in ecosystems of their times. After the program, participants may participate in an optional 20-minute question and answer session. The Wyoming Dinosaur Center was recently named the #1 dinosaur museum in the United States by America’s Best and Top Ten, so be ready for a high-caliber evening of dinosaur magic. Preregistration is appreciated but not required. Arrive early for this program. We predict a full house!
