A free lecture by award-winning author Lynn Downey, who discusses her latest book, "American Dude Ranch." Following the talk, Downey signs copies of the book at the Center’s Points West Market. The Center’s Papers of William F. Cody hosts the program in recognition of National Day of the Cowboy.
Downey’s history considers dude ranching across the years, tracing its influence on everything from clothing to cooking, and showing how ranchers adapted to changing times and vacation trends. The book demonstrates that the tradition of the dude ranch, America’s original western vacation, is deeply connected with the culture and history of the American West.
