CoCoRaHS (pronounced Cocoa-Raws) is a grassroots volunteer network of weather observers of all ages and backgrounds working together to measure and map precipitation (rain, hail and snow) in local communities. A National Weather Service (NWS) meteorologist will be conducting hands-on training to measure and report precipitation in support of the Community Collaborative Rain, Hail, and Snow Network.
Berc will show how trained volunteer observers submit their individual precipitation reports over the Internet. The collected data is then made available for use by various agencies and individuals to understand precipitation patterns as well as to investigate weather events. Training will consist of an interactive multimedia presentation and demonstration of the tools used by volunteer CoCoRaHS observers located all over the country. What a great hobby from which so many benefit!
Notification of intent to attend is not required but is appreciated.
