SUMMARY:Alternative Energy: On- or Off-Grid?
DESCRIPTION:Are you curious about alternative ways to power your home or business? Are you thinking of building a house on a lot that doesn't have access to utility services? Do you want to get more information about the economical and environmental impacts of using alternative energy?\n \n Focusing on solar and wind power\, Andy Rose and Gerald Smith will discuss the relative advantages and disadvantages of off-grid systems (not connected to your local utility company) and on-grid systems (alternative power supplements the utilities from your local company and may include the option to sell back\, to your utility company\, any excess power you produce).\n \n Four years of data from operation of on-grid and off-grid power systems will be presented.
